Join the legendary explorer on a cruise into the Arctic Circle to see one of the world's most magical natural phenomena

For up-to-date advice on travel and COVID-19, see our homepage.

Watching the aurora borealis dancing in the night sky is an experience you will never forget. The Northern Lights are one of the world's most fascinating natural wonders and, as such, have mystified and enthralled humankind for centuries.

On this special 12-day trip you will have the chance to witness the ethereal beauty of the Northern Lights in the company of legendary explorer Sir Ranulph Fiennes. Ranulph will deliver talks and answer your questions during exclusive events, as well as introducing a 40th anniversary screening of the film of his three-year circumpolar expedition. You will explore the majestic Norwegian coast and star-filled Arctic skies in the company of a generational icon, as you travel from Bergen to beyond the Arctic Circle.

Sailing on MS Finnmarken with our recommended travel partner Hurtigruten, the leading expert in voyages along the Norwegian fjords, you'll be transported in total comfort, on a stylish, modern ship that combines Scandinavian decor with excellent on-board facilities.

The ship has undergone a full 'stern to bow' refurbishment in time for your trip, with completely renovated cabins and public areas. The refurbished ship will feature five new suites at the top of the ship, with stunning views, three unique restaurants, a top-deck grill for outdoor BBQs, a wellness centre, improved pool and outward-facing sauna, a re-designed bar and much more.

You'll discover Norway's stunning coastline, from the UNESCO World Heritage port of Bergen up to the city of Tromsø, before sailing through the remote and beautiful Lofoten Islands and the North Cape, Europe's most northerly point, before finally sailing back via the ancient Viking trading post of Trondheim.

During your trip, you can also choose to go on a number of additional Arctic excursions, including activities such as tastings, snowmobiling, sea kayaking, king crab catching, a Viking feast and sea eagle spotting.

Sir Ranulph Fiennes
Adventurer and explorer

Sir Ranulph Fiennes' extraordinary achievements as an adventurer and explorer have seen him recognised as 'the world's greatest living explorer' (Guiness World Records). He served in the Army for eight years, as a member of the Royal Scots Greys and the SAS, and later embarked on a series of pioneering missions to many of the most remote and inhospitable places on the planet. He was the first person (with Charles Burton) to conquer both the North and South Poles on foot, and was the first (with Mike Stroud) to cross the Antarctic continent on foot. In 2009, Sir Ranulph climbed Mount Everest at the age of 65, becoming the oldest Briton to reach the summit.
